Datadog Summit Japan & South Korea

In 2020, we organized our first virtual summit event for engineers, SREs, and developers in Japan and South Korea. Our summit events typically provide us with a physical or digital space to discuss new product features, announcements, and help us connect with prospective users. I created the full brand system and all digital assets for these two events.
The brand system for the Japan event was inspired by emblems known as Mon, or Mondokoro. In Japan, they are visual representations of individuals, families, or businesses. Visually, they are often made of abstract geometric shapes and tend to maintain axial or rotational symmetry. The colors are influenced by Japanese kimonos.
The brand system for the South Korea event used a set of symbols and patterns inspired by the Eight Trigrams (two of which can be found on the Korean national flag) and elements of common Korean architecture. The colors used in the palette are often seen in traditional formal wear known as ‘Hanbok’ for babies or young children in South Korea.
